This benediction makes sense at Synod Youth Workshop

Rev. Anne Clifton dons a red nose for the benediction after being surprised at the beginning of worship with nearly 400 red-nosed faces in the congregation on the last night of SYW 2008. The noses were an affirmation of Clifton's leadership as the keynote speaker. One of her illustrations was the Red Nose Day in the U.K. Workshop Director Krista Winn ordered similar noses which arrived just in time for Friday's service. While Clifton was distracted before reading scripture, everyone put on their noses.

While the congregation didn't donate directly to the U.K.'s charity fund, they did make an offering of more than $2,000, towards the Union Gospel Mission of Ft. Worth, Texas. That mission played a primary role in the lives of people in the book Same Kind of Different As Me, from which Clifton drew many of her stories.

7/19/08: Good bye for now... (but more photos will appear in the coming week)

More than 380 young people and adults left Tulsa today after another excellent year for Synod Youth Workshop. More will be posted later, below is the senior photo and a video greeting to youth leaders at another conference. We will post more after returning home from Tulsa.
